It was a weekend of celebration at India’s leading business school, Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur, as the school celebrated its annual day, nicknamed Vinculum ’13. The day upheld the theme “Celebrating Womanhood”, which made it much more special than previous years.
The two-day event commenced on March 8th when Professor Prabina Rajib officially inaugurated Vinculum ’13. The inaugural ceremony was followed by cultural program, Vinculum CultNite, which set the stage for a variety of traditional cultural performances by the talents at VGSoM. It was a memorable night full of great performances and fun-filled events, followed by a feast at the VGSoM Foyer.
The festivities included a treasure hunt and an interdepartmental quiz in which over twenty departments battled for four hours to win the most coveted trophy. Quiz masters Anubhav Mukherjee and Anurag challenged the participants to their thresholds. The next day started with a marathon race in which both students and professors from IIT Junta participated. The students took a break from their regular campus activities to complete the “Run for Respect”, 4.5 kilometers of fun, vigor and adrenaline rushes.
The final event was VoW 2013 Voice of Women, a national womens leadership summit where female panelists shared their ideas on the theme of the summit, Indias Women: Architects of Change and Icons of Sustainability. The panel discussion focused on the role of women as partners and forerunners in the development of the nation, and the increasing emphasis on women as harbingers of the change movement and re-defining leadership in all walks of life.
