  1. It means that advertorials should be tagged with the “rel=nofollow” attribute. Search Google for “rel=nofollow” and you’ll see more info from Google… I can’t leave a link in this comment for it.

  3. We can expect more “panda” updates. Corporation needs money and that’s all that matters. They will destroy internet – if you want to exist pay AdWords extortion. After 100 years kids will learn at school “there was an Internet once, it was a great tool for people, but google corporation found a great way to make money with it and they destroyed it” Dear Mutt Cutss – go fuck yourself !!!!

  4. It seems that social media signals are the way to moving forward. A lot of web masters got hit with the Penguin 2.0 update because of the backlinks they’ve done. Whether they were infact spamming or not, to be safe, it’s better to invest your time in acquiring social signals for you SEO.

  5. I still get spam blog posts on the first page of search results for some searches. This is the quality content from search result number six: A toscanella bag, however, there is an obvious and simple appearance, and some defects in this bag leather can boast of. So it is a skilled craftsman,, selection of relevant models leather part of accurate positioning of the bag right. Therefore, a craftsman and artisans, will not only know how to read the tanning them before the vegetables.

  6. I google cheating? They keep saying build quality content, but why are Amazon product pages always ranked number one? Look at Amazon product pages. It has little product description and full with links to other pages and internal duplicates. Amazon should be penalized for that. I think Amazon is paying money to Google for this. Readers, what are your thoughts?

  7. If I create original content on two completely different topics (marketing and fitness) on my 2 blogs, as well as contribute content to other sites, will Google penalize me? Or do I have to be a subject matter expert on one topic only?

  8. Thank you for keeping us posted Matt. Like others, I would like to see less directories such as Yellow Pages, Dex and Super Pages in the top listings and more of the actual web pages that serve the particular search. Directories seem to appear more when I add the city name to my searches. For example, a search on “car battery Colorado Springs” lists more directories than if I do a search on “car battery.”

  9. Hey Matt, thanks for the info. I still see for some queries 20+ search results in one go from different tripadvisor sites (.com, .co.au, .co.uk, .ca, etc) leading to the same or (almost same) content just on different TLDs. Would be nice if penguin takes care of that “spam” that is of no use to the user. please make some room for other sites that are not as big and equipped as the tripadvisors of the world and do not run 20 domains…
