Please send your written interest to email@example.com from now on! Artists and all sectors are welcome.
What To Dip/ วัตถุดิบ realizes the significance of natural resources to the members of each community across the globe and its value to humankind as a whole. Artists and their artworks have potential to be catalysts to build up awareness and concerns on critical matters at both local and worldwide scope. It focuses on encouraging visual artists across the world to explore and experiment on local “Raw Material”; the connection between physical qualities of chosen material and conceptual interpretation of material itself together with visual dialogues based on each artist’s areas of interest within his/her own practice which will bring not only diverse cultural exchange to the exhibition and its local audiences but also knowledge and experience of world raw materials exchange. The project also encourages exhibiting artists to create site-specific pieces using a combination of local materials in Thailand and local materials from where they reside. What To Dip/ วัตถุดิบ project defines local materials as any local material that inspires artists to transform the material from its origins to a work of aesthetic.
What To Dip/ วัตถุดิบ project is a platform for visual artists from all geographical and cultural backgrounds to work on unfamiliar/unconventional materials in their local setting to create work in unlimited forms of art and share them in our exhibition in Chiang Mai, a city with a rich-mix of raw material resources, art, crafts and culture (“a Creative City”).
What To Dip/ วัตถุดิบ complies with The Uncooked Culture’s manifesto to assist and nurture self-taught artists, artists who lack the opportunity to gain formal art education and who are passionate in making art in addition to raw-minded professional artists who may feel like outsiders or feel rejected from the system. All are invited to gain more opportunities to show their works and to help increase artist’s confidence to continue developing their practices. We emphasis on building up sustainable global community of artists and intend to pursue its wider perception and practice to the wider community worldwide.
The project also encourages collaboration among The Uncooked Culture community members through our online interactive community to develop ideas of the project and its additional events. Submitted artworks will be selected by The Uncooked Culture panel of juries who are international members and gained acceptable experience in curatorial and informal/formal educational art/community projects.
