Belfast will host the prestigious World Police and Fire Games (WPFG), the third largest international multi-sport event in the world, from 1 – 10 August 2013. Around 25,000 visitors from over 70 countries are expected to attend the Games, including 10,000 competitors who will compete in around 57 sports at 40 venues across Northern Ireland. The majority of events are open to the public, giving people the opportunity to attend some fantastic, free sporting events. The Games are held biennially and are commonly referred to as the 'Olympics' for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers.
