ZocDoc is Selected a Webware 100 Finalist

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 25, 2008

ZocDoc, a new company that provides an online service for patients to find doctors and book appointments instantly online, has been selected as a finalist for the Webware 100, a yearly competition to select the top 100 websites. CNET editors evaluated more than 4,600 qualifying Web 2.0 companies and selected 30 finalists for each of the 10 categories. The general public can vote for the ultimate winners from noon today until March 21, 2008.

“We are very encouraged by the enthusiastic feedback we’ve received from our users, both patients and doctors. We hope our users will turn out and vote for us, and maybe bring a friend or two,” said Cyrus Massoumi, CEO and Co-Founder.

The other nominees in the “Commerce & Events,” category includes well-established companies such as eBay, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft.

“ZocDoc doesn’t just make finding a doc easier for our patients,” said Oliver Kharraz, Co-Founder and MD. “It helps them when they need it most. We’ve had appointments available on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, on Sunday, and as early as 6 am in the morning. Patients with an emergency used to suffer until normal business hours resumed, or wait a long time in an emergency room. Now patients book online to be seen the same day, sometimes within 15 minutes of booking.”

CNET’s voting rules allow users to cast up to 3 votes in the Webware 100. Although ZocDoc is currently offered only in the New York City area, it makes sense for users who like the idea to vote for ZocDoc no matter where they live, as the service will expand to other cities in 2008. The Webware 100 winners will be announced on April 21, 2008.

ZocDoc Patient Features

ZocDoc is like OpenTable, which uses the Internet to enable consumers to make reservations at their favorite restaurants very quickly, often taking advantage of last minute openings. ZocDoc applies the power of the Internet to improve a system that, until now, was frustrating for patients, inefficient for dentists and doctors, and far too complex and lengthy for everyone.

ZocDoc’s website is fast and easy-to-use and eliminates previous frustrations such as being put on hold or waiting weeks for an appointment. Additionally, ZocDoc features insurance validation to ensure the doctor of your choice is covered. ZocDoc also puts consumers back in the driver’s seat when making healthcare decisions by providing them with detailed background information on all participating physicians and dentists.

ZocDoc Doctor Benefits

Participating physicians and dentists benefit greatly from the ZocDoc service as well. ZocDoc helps healthcare practitioners grow their practice by giving them wider visibility on the web, as well as attracting new patients, particularly for those practitioners with strong patient reviews and feedback. In addition, ZocDoc improves the efficiency of a medical business, helping alleviate productivity lost from last minute cancellations by filling those times with other patients. Even the best doctors have a handful of cancellations every day that may be lost and wasted, ZocDoc helps fill those times.
