Change.org, the worlds largest social change platform, has hired former Zynga general manager Tim Catlin as its new vice president of engineering. Catlin will lead the companys engineering team, building out the platforms personalization experience and mobile development.
Catlin leaves social gaming startup Zynga, which he joined in 2010 as divisional CTO, initiating the company’s advertising platform business and overseeing development on the website Zynga.com, the rewards program Rewardville, and various APIs and services used by all Zynga games. In 2012, Catlin became the GM of Zynga.com and of Developer Experience for the company’s third party platform.

This is the social change companys third high-profile executive hired this year. Former Yahoo! VP and Google executive Jennifer Dulski joined Change.org as president and COO in January, and Twitter executive Amanda Levy became Change.orgs new VP of sales in July.

With more than 20 years of experience in Silicon Valley startups, Catlin helped build eight technology companies, including Adchemy, Netcentives, and Taligent, a joint venture between Apple and IBM. An avid musician, he has played piano since he was four and sung in choral groups since high school, directing a full 22-piece jazz ensemble and an a capella mens group and regularly arranging and composing music. He serves on two nonprofit boards in the Bay Area.
Catlin will work from Change.orgs San Francisco headquarters. The worlds largest social change platform, Change.org hit 50 million users in November 2013 and has 180 staff members in 18 countries.
